About the expedition

Chonos, the labyrinth and the mountains

Our expedition begins in Puerto Aguirre, entering the northernmost reaches of the Chonos Archipelago and sailing through one of the most complex and remote geographies of Patagonia.

The route will take us towards Bahía Marta, where hot springs meet the forests and mountains of Puyuhuapi Channel. We will continue to Puerto Cisnes and Puyuhuapi, exploring their fjords and having the opportunity to bathe in the hot springs, before continuing to Playa Bonita and Puerto Gala, small communities appearing among channels and mountains like true refuges in the archipelago.

More about the expedition+

From there we will venture deeper into this territory, sailing towards Posa de Oro and Melimoyu in the shadow of the mountains and their great summits, before continuing towards Raúl Marín Balmaceda and the waters of Tictoc. The expedition will continue south through a landscape where the mainland begins to fragment into islands, channels and fjords, until we reach Melinka. From there we will sail towards Jechica Island, one of the great refuges of our journey, before returning to Puerto Aguirre.

Throughout the journey we will discover different expressions of the same territory: hot springs hidden among forests, deep fjords, mountains, remote islands and small communities whose lives remain closely connected to the sea. This is an expedition to sail beyond the usual routes and understand the geography from the water.
