The Captain

Felipe Jugo

A life at sea

I have been at sea since I was four years old. What began as a childhood passion gradually became my profession, and ultimately, a way of life.

In 2008, I qualified as a Coastal Captain. Two years later, after building the sea miles and offshore experience required, I earned my Offshore Captain's licence. Since then, my life has been shaped by yachts, long passages and the remote waters of Patagonia.

For decades, I have navigated the southern channels aboard different yachts and vessels, leading expeditions into some of the most remote corners of the region.

My work has taken me beyond sailing itself. I have served as expedition leader on documentaries, scientific expeditions and research projects, working with international teams exploring wildlife, marine ecosystems and the extraordinary territories of southern Chile.

For me, Patagonia is not simply a destination. It is a territory I have come to know through years at sea — slowly, closely and from the water.
